My Top 5 Movie Monsters and Evil Beings

I figured I'd cheat a bit and go for a top10 list by cutting it in half, leaving 5 spots for monsters and 5 spots for evil beings. Here's my logic: any monster listed in the top 5 can pretty much eat any evil being listed in the lower 5, but the lower 5 are still pretty nasty.

Top 5 Movie Monsters for Halloween

  • The Blob -- nothing more scary than being digested slowly by a giant amoeba while it suffocates you
  • The Thing -- nothing more scary than being taken over by a parasite, turned inside out, and permutated into a nightmare with appendages in all the wrong places, GROSS!
  • Caltiki -- nothing more scary than being digested while being squeezed into a compact lump of bone, muscle, and tissue at the same time
  • Zombies -- notice the trend here for the top 5 -- nothing scarier than being eaten alive by your significant others and total strangers.
  • Alien -- it's pretty scary being used as an incubator. And they're all so gooey and sticky. And I hate gobs of mucus. And being eaten alive from the inside.
Top 5 Movie Evil Beings for Halloween
  • Jason -- unstoppable and very nasty habit of skewering victims just when they're having fun
  • Freddy -- he can easily turn your sweet dreams into terminal nightmares when you're too tired to fight back
  • Hannibal Lector -- he eats you and thanks you for it
  • Any Cenobite -- really, do I have to explain this one? At least Pin Head has a little class before he dissects you into chum
  • The Reaper -- unstoppable flying menace who likes to take your skin before he eats you.
So there you have it. Pick up any one of these bad boys, monsters or evil beings, and your Halloween will be a rousing success. Invite some friends over and chow down while the monsters do. They'll love it (your friends, I mean).

Top Five Horror Bad Guys (Evil von Scarry's favs) series

Evil von Scarry's top 5 Horror Bad Guys and/or Monsters of Film.

I was thinking of doing something like Hitler vs. Abbot and Costello vs. The Mummy but didnt need the political fallout, lol. So here goes with some of my personal pics for bad guys in horror and movie monsters in the spirit of upcoming Halloween. Well here we go in no particular order, except Pinhead he's the ultimate.

1/ PINHEAD (from Hellraiser- series, comics and novels

Pinhead is an evil notional leader of a group of Demons called Cenobites created by Clive Barker and also made famous in the Hellraiser series of movies. He is uber intelligent, makes Hannibal Lecter look like a pussy and has telekinesis. Need I say more? Pinhead in my opinion is THE horror baddie.

2/ The Blair Witch (from the Blair Witch Project 1 and 2, etc)
This movie set the bar for many other films and had a really creepy bad guy(girl) that for myself gave me the creeps. Myself I loved this movie others really hated it. But all of those fucking creepy stick figures made and with some kind of strange things going on puts this baddie on my list. Not to mention she can somehow make her victims immobilized to stand in a corner while it kills everyone else......

3/ "that fucking girl in the well" from The Ring  based on the Japanese book/film Ringu:
well lets just say you watch this tape and get a mysterious phone call after the film is over with a message that says " 7 days" in a really creepy voice. You have 7 days until TFGITW comes to get you. She does not stop, you can't kill her and no known mojo can protect you. Seeing her come out of the well or even talking about it still gives me the willies and goosebumps.

here is the cursed film (from the movie), if you get a phone call dont fricking call me!

4/ Leatherface (from Texas Chainsaw Massacre)

Leatherface is a creepy crazed cannibal with superhuman endurance and can take alot of hits without flinching! There was alot of flap about this film being based on a true story and people trying to figure it out. I'll give it to you. He is loosely based on serial killer Ed Gein. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre changed the horror genre irrevocably in 1974 and created a huge stir. Horror films would never be the same again. It served as an inspiration for countless other films and genres of horror. Leatherface will be in the annals of horror history along with Nosferatu, The Mummy, Wolfman, etc.

5/ Dracula ( as played by Bela Lugosi)
to myself the absolute iconic Horror bad guy is Dracula as played by Bela Lugosi in many films. Dracula had many powers such as hypnosis, transformation (mist, vampire bat), super strength and speed, superior intellect and his suaveness would make the Dos Equis guy look like a chump.  Culturally and cinematically the film Dracula in 1931 changed the world as we know it forever! Muhahahahahahaha!

Far from a comprehensive list this is just my humble top 5 favorites of horror.

Stay tuned for other top pics from other contributors before Halloween. -Evil von Scarry

Top Five Favourite Horror Bad Guys (Kount Kreepy)

In keeping with the Halloween spirit and this blog's :P I have come up with my top 5 favourite horror movie villains.

5. DR. DECKER

Creepy, psychotic, and merciless...I choo choo chose you Dr.Decker! The maniacal antagonist in Nightbreed. Nightbreed tells a tale of Boon, a guy who thinks he is losing his mind because he dreams of running with the monsters in Midian. His dreams soon become reality as he struggles to hold his humanity and fit in with the monsters. Dr. Decker's goal is to eliminate all "Breeders" human and monster alike.

4. CAPTAIN SPAULDING

Sadistic Clown, Twisted Murderer, and proprietor of "Captain Spaulding's Museum of Monsters and Madmen"
A member of the Firefly Family in Rob Zombie's "House of 1000 Corpses" and "Devil's Rejects", Capt. serves up comedic relief and fried chicken...House of 1000 Corpses follows the story of a group of young people on a road trip, and their unfortunate encounter with The Firefly family and Dr.Satan.

3. TROLLS

So cheesey, what can I say...I love em. Vegetarian Trolls with an urge to turn people to plants. Troll 2 has the distinction of being called "The Worst Movie Ever Made". Its plot is stupid and simple...A family vacationing in a small town discovers the entire town is inhabited by goblins in disguise as humans, who plan to eat them. "Grampa, Nilbog spells Goblin backwards!!!"

2.  JASON VOORHEES

Silent and deadly, with a million ways to murder anyone. What more needs to be said about Jason...if you don't know who he is, just curl up back under your comfortable rock and go back to sleep. The Hero, I mean villain, of Friday the 13th needs no introduction. As kids, Evil Von Scarry and myself cheered for Jason's body count in order to not crap our pants...lol...but what I want to know is....Is he a Ghost? Zombie? Demon? Dunno

and my number 1 Favourite is:

1. ZOMBIES

Ah the sweet shambling hordes. Hands down, my fav horror bad guy.I love all things zombies..except "Day of the Dead" remake! And anything Uwe Boll....and George's latest 3 flicks...and Dead Rising..and Dale dyhing in The Walking Dead...ok so I don't love everything...but ever since I was a kid I dreamed of what it would be like to survive a zombie apocalypse. Of all the zombie flicks the best in my opinion are:

Day of the Dead (original):

and:

Return of the Living Dead:

War of the Dead (Stone's War) review

War of the Dead is one of those zombie movies you might want to watch while your waiting for World War Z or Frankenstein's Army. And oddly enough the main character Captain Stone looks sort of  like Mr. K lol.

Quick plot summary: 1941 a Finnish commando group on secret mission to wipe out a  bunker complex just over the border in Soviet Russia. Alongside them is a squad of American's let by Captain Stone.
The rub is that the Nazi's were doing experiments there to create undead soldiers. Chaos ensues at first contact.

The effects are pretty decent, us zombie fans are generally easy to please-lol. There's a few plot line holes but overall its a fun movie, lot's of tongue in cheek and cheese ala Bruce Campbell style. Gore, gunplay, zombies (the fast ones), fun for the whole family.

Although it's a Finnish movie( seems like the Scandanvian countries are starting to weigh in on the horror genre- (Trolljaeger, Dead Snow, etc) it is done in English (not subs) and it's pretty good overall. Although it gets slagged by alot of critics well fuck them this is a fun film! World premier was at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival in Canada last year (Oct 22, 2011).

Like I said  its a movie to fill the gap while waiting for other movies. World War Z is having some problems though with production and running over budget, lets hope they don't fuck that one up! The book was great and iconic in the zombie genre. I just hope Max Brooks got his money up front. Frankenstein's Army has been pretty quite but is apparently moving along well without any major problems.

Thanks for tuning into the Kount Kreepy Blog - Evil von Scarry

Detention Review and Other Cheese to match it..

Well, first I have to say is there is a lot going on in this movie.. At first glace you might chalk it up as another "Scream", or teenie horror flick, but that is totally not the case with this movie. Right from the beginning you can see that there is something different about this movie, a kind of "Scott Pilgram vs The World" feel. The basic plot outline provided by IMDB goes like this :
As a killer named Cinderhella stalks the student body at the high school in Grizzly Lake, a group of co-eds band together to survive while they're all serving detention.

This description doesn't even scratch the surface of this strange, quirky comedy-horror. With funny 80s and 90s references and a bizarre story twist, I found myself pleasantly surprised and entertained. Throughout the movie I was saying " Wtf, lol "... and felt satisfied with the level of gore and mayham. I wish I could say more about this movie but as a return reader to my blog, you may notice I am a man of few words, and kind of suck at reviewing haha...I would recommend this movie to fans of such films as the fore mentioned and other strange horror flicks like this incomplete list:

    TERRORVISION (1986)

    NIGHT OF THE CREEPS (1986)

    FEAST (2006)

TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL (2010)

DEAD ALIVE aka BRAIN DEAD (1992)
